當(dāng)resist用來表達(dá)“免于……，欲……而不”時，后面可接動名詞，但不可接不定式。 She couldn't resist taking aim at the wild geese as they flew over.當(dāng)野天鵝飛過的時候，她不自禁的瞄準(zhǔn)射擊。

resist的基本意思是“反抗,抵抗”,指拒絕接受,并設(shè)法阻止其發(fā)生,也指與其戰(zhàn)斗以防被擊敗,往往強(qiáng)調(diào)以武力為手段,引申還可以作“未受損害,耐得住”解。

resist還可表示從主觀意識出發(fā)的意志“不屈服,忍住”,這時,后面常跟動名詞,并多用于否定句中,意思是“不禁,忍不住”。

resist主要用作及物動詞,偶爾用作不及物動詞。用作及物動詞時,接名詞、代詞或動名詞作賓語。

resist常與否定詞連用,后面可以接動名詞,但不能接動詞不定式。試比較: 我忍不住告訴了他這個秘密。誤:I couldn't resist to tell him the secret.正:I couldn't resist telling him the secret.
