depend的基本意思是“吊”“懸”“掛”,作“依賴于”“依靠”解時主要指某種要出現(xiàn)的情況、未知的事實(shí)及待作出的決定等有關(guān)的事物的不確定性。引申可指信心十足或?qū)δ橙顺浞窒嘈拧?/p>

depend多與on〔upon〕連用,只有當(dāng)主語是it/that時,才可省略on〔upon〕,且只能接疑問詞從句,其他情況都用作普通不及物動詞。

It all depends或That depends表示“這很難說”“得看情況”。

在口語中,作為開場白或結(jié)束語的depend upon〔on〕 it意思是“無須懷疑”“我敢說”,可以看成是省略了you may〔can〕...。
