different常接介詞from、to或than,在英語中常用different to,在美語中有時(shí)用different than,而different from英美都用。在口語中, different from有時(shí)可接從句。
different在肯定句中可用very修飾,在否定句中則用much修飾。表示否定時(shí)用no修飾different比用not否定的語氣強(qiáng),后者只指“相同”,而前者則強(qiáng)調(diào)“一模一樣”“毫無差別”。
different在句中可用作定語或表語,無比較級和最高級。
different還可用作不愿違心稱贊時(shí)用的搪塞語。例如:“What do you think of it?”“Well, it's different.”“你覺得這個(gè)東西怎么樣?”“這個(gè)嘛,還是挺有特色的。”
