depart作為不及物動詞,基本意思是“離開,動身,出發(fā)”,指離開或偏離原來的位置,多指火車、汽車、輪船和飛機(jī)等,按行車〔船〕時刻表中所規(guī)定的時間“離開”,也可指離開某人或離開某種境況。

depart除幾個習(xí)語外,極少用作及物動詞。

短語depart from可作“背離”“不按照”“不遵守”“不按…行事”解。

depart不可用作“(互相)分別”解。

depart屬非延續(xù)性動詞,表示一時的動作,所以在用于完成時態(tài)時不能與表示延續(xù)一段時間的狀語連用。例如: 他們兩年前就去了日本。誤:They've departed for Japan for twoyear.正:They departed for Japan two years ago.類似的動詞還有l(wèi)eave, arrive, die, go, come等。
