among的用法比amongsta普遍。元音前，多用amongst（很少在美國使用）， 如amongst us；

among與between的比較：among用在三個或三個以上的人或物前，between是用在兩者之間, 與and搭配，如between he and me，但不與among搭配，不能說among A， B and C。表示在某些物體的兩邊之間時，不管物體的數(shù)量多少，用between。divide或share一些東西的時候，單數(shù)名詞用divide between和share between，而復(fù)數(shù)名詞用between或among都可。 There is a little valley between high mountains. He divided his money between his wife, his daughter and his sister.I shared the food between/among all my friends.

句子He is sitting among his best friends中，He指的不是他最好的朋友中的一個，而句子He is among my best friends中的He是我最好的朋友中的一個；

among后有時接不可數(shù)名詞，如among the furniture和among the turf。

among主要用于三者或三者以上，其賓語通常是表示籠統(tǒng)數(shù)量或具有復(fù)數(shù)意義的名詞或代詞。

among有時相當(dāng)于one of， 即“…當(dāng)中的一個”。among還可引出形容詞最高級的比較范圍，但須注意最高級形式出現(xiàn)在among之前或之后意義有所不同。
