在口語中destroy有時可作“把…累得精疲力竭”解,作此解時,謂語若以be destroyed形式出現(xiàn),其后可接動名詞形式。

在口語里destroy還可作“銷毀”解。

destroy用作及物動詞,可作“拒絕”解,是瞬間動詞,但有時可用于進行體,并可跟表示一段時間的狀語。例如:What would be the good in beginning now, when you've been destroying them for twenty years?你已經(jīng)拒絕他們20年了,現(xiàn)在開始這樣做又有什么好處呢?
