There are several possible explanations. 有幾種合理的解釋。

possible的基本意思是“可能的”“潛在的”,指某事可能做、可能存在或可能發(fā)生,也可指某事可能是真實(shí)的、正確的,引申可表示“可接受的”“合適的”。

possible還可作“也許的”解,指某事物或大或小、或有或無的、或發(fā)生或未發(fā)生的可能性,作此解時(shí),只用作表語。

possible在句中用作定語時(shí),可前置,也可后置。修飾anything, something, everything, all, every, the only或最高級(jí)形容詞時(shí)常后置。

possible可用作先行主語it的表語,后面跟動(dòng)詞不定式或that從句作真實(shí)主語。

possible是絕對(duì)形容詞,沒有比較級(jí)和最高級(jí),也不受very修飾。

因?yàn)槭虑橐纯赡?要么不可能,所以有人反對(duì)用even less possible這類的表達(dá)方式。在使用中應(yīng)避免這種用法。
