chairman的意思是“坐在椅子上主持會議的人”,即“主席”,也可指委員會的“委員長”,董事會的“董事長”。其復(fù)數(shù)形式為chairmen。

chairman主要指男性,也可指女性。女主席還可說chairwoman。

chairman表示獨占的職位時,通常不加冠詞,如指具體的人則須加冠詞。
