acquit的基本意思是“宣告…無罪”,是及物動(dòng)詞,以被宣告無罪的人作直接賓語,而被指控的罪名則由短語“of...”或“on...charge”“on the charge of...”表示。可用于被動(dòng)結(jié)構(gòu)。

acquit還可作“使自己履行”解,其賓語由反身代詞充當(dāng)。通常不用于被動(dòng)結(jié)構(gòu)。
