criticize既可用作不及物動(dòng)詞,也可用作及物動(dòng)詞。用作及物動(dòng)詞時(shí),常接人、理論、路線(xiàn)等作賓語(yǔ),很少接“懶惰”“急躁”等作賓語(yǔ)。
criticize的賓語(yǔ)后可接介詞for表示原因,接介詞as表示性質(zhì)或內(nèi)容。
criticize在英式英語(yǔ)中也可寫(xiě)作criticise。
說(shuō)“批評(píng)某人的粗心”時(shí),不能直接以“粗心”作criticize的賓語(yǔ),而應(yīng)接“某人”作其賓語(yǔ),用介詞for引出批評(píng)的內(nèi)容。例如: 老師批評(píng)了他的粗枝大葉作風(fēng)。誤:The teacher criticized his carelessness.正:The teacher criticized him for care- lessness.
