suspect是及物動詞,接名詞、代詞、that從句、wh-從句作賓語。可用于被動結(jié)構(gòu)。

suspect還可接以“(to be/as+) n./adj. ”或動詞不定式充當補足語的復合賓語。

suspect常接介詞of引出懷疑、推測的內(nèi)容。

suspect也可用作名詞,作“嫌疑犯”解。例如:Two suspects are now being interrogated in connection with the killing.與殺人案有關(guān)的兩名嫌疑犯正在接受審訊。

suspect還可用作形容詞,作“可疑的”解,此時其讀音為 ［'s?spekt］ 。例如:His reason for being absent is suspect.他缺席的理由不足采信。
