suffice的基本意思是“(使)滿足”“足夠…之需要”。既可用作不及物動(dòng)詞,也可用作及物動(dòng)詞。用作及物動(dòng)詞時(shí),其主語(yǔ)常常是物,賓語(yǔ)一般是人; 用作不及物動(dòng)詞時(shí),常與介詞for連用,表示“足夠…之用〔需要〕”。
suffice可用于被動(dòng)結(jié)構(gòu),常表示“對(duì)(食物等的)滿足”。
