used to do sth表示“習慣做某事”，一般指的是過去的習慣，但不用use to do來表示現(xiàn)在的習慣。used前后常加always，used to do還常含有“一向這樣”或是“與現(xiàn)在不同”的意思。used to do可用于過去完成時態(tài)，但不用于現(xiàn)在完成時。疑問句中，used可充當助動詞的角色，放在主語前。 He used to do it.他習慣那樣做。 He always used to come by tram.他總習慣坐有軌電車來。 He used to live here.他一直住在這里。 People used to think that the earth was flat.人們過去總認為地球是平面的。 He said he had used to come by tram. Used he to come by tram?

used to do與would...的比較：兩者都可表示過去的習慣。used to do用得比would...普遍。used to do可表示“持續(xù)的動作或是重復(fù)的行為”，而would...只表示“重復(fù)的行為”。used to do較would...來的更為客觀。{He would ask me about my studies.|常暗示“他關(guān)心我”或“讓我討厭”。used to do表示經(jīng)常發(fā)生的事，而would...則表示往往發(fā)生的事； 在美國，used常解釋為secondhand，表示“二手的”，如used cars（二手車）。 People used to think that the earth was flat.(持續(xù)的)She used to see him every Sunday.(重復(fù)的)She would see him every Sunday.(重復(fù)的) He used to ask me about my studies.只表達了一個事實。

use是日常用語,基本意思是“用”“使用”,多指一種比較明顯地、物質(zhì)地消耗,有時也可指不含或含有很少的消費、消耗的意思,強調(diào)目的性與實際效益。

use是及物動詞,接名詞、代詞作賓語。也可接由as短語或動詞不定式充當補足語的復(fù)合賓語。use偶爾可接人作賓語,意為“利用某人”,即把某人作為手段或工具。

used to僅用于一般過去時,表示過去常常發(fā)生的事,否定式為used not to或did not use to。

used to是情態(tài)動詞,只有過去式,表示過去存在的但現(xiàn)在已停止的情況或習慣動作。它后面接動詞不定式,否定式是 used not to 或use(d) n't/to,也可用didn't use to。疑問式可以是Used+主語+(not) to...?但更常用 Did/Didn't+主語+use to...?。另外,在反意疑問句中,陳述部分用used to時,疑問部分的謂語動詞可用use(d)n't 或 didn't,如果陳述部分是 didn't use to 或use(d)n't to時,疑問部分則只能分別用 did 或used。

use用作名詞時,基本意思是“使用,應(yīng)用”,引申可作“用途,效用”解。

use通常與介詞of連用,有時of可省略。
