區(qū)別advanced和progressive，前者意為“高級(jí)的”，后者意為“向前進(jìn)的”。an advanced course in English指“一個(gè)高級(jí)英語課程”，a progressive course in English指“一個(gè)循序漸進(jìn)的英語課程”，但是在表達(dá)“先進(jìn)的”意思時(shí)，必須用advanced。

advanced的基本意思是“超前的,先進(jìn)的”,指新的尚未被普遍接受的; 也可指“高級(jí)的,高等的”; advanced還可指“年邁的”,引申可指“后階段的”。

advanced作“在前面的”“后階段的”“晚期的”“增長(zhǎng)了的”解時(shí)不用于比較等級(jí)；作“領(lǐng)先的；超前的；先進(jìn)的”“高級(jí)的”“上年紀(jì)的”“標(biāo)新立異的”等解時(shí)可用于比較等級(jí)。
