slip的意思是“滑”,通常就是指 腳滑,滑倒之類的,而當(dāng)它搭配其他詞語,也可以表示某個東西偏離了正確的位置,造成了某種錯誤,就如a slip of the
tongue,就可以理解為舌頭打滑,舌頭沒有在它本該在的位置而導(dǎo)致了說話說錯了。這個短語的英文解釋為

misspeak和“口誤”還不太一樣,口誤是知道正確的說法,也準(zhǔn)備這么說,但是不小心說錯了,而說錯話則有可能是有意的說了某些話,但是這些話在當(dāng)下并不是合適的。
例:

Secretary denied lying, but said that he
misspoke.
秘書不承認(rèn)說謊,而是說自己說錯了。
