thank的基本意思是“謝謝”“感謝”,指因某人所做的事或所給予的東西而在口頭或文字上表示感謝。thank也可作“責(zé)怪”解,表示一種請(qǐng)求,現(xiàn)常作反語,含有埋怨、不耐煩的口氣。

thank是及物動(dòng)詞,接名詞或代詞作賓語,還可接復(fù)合賓語,其賓語補(bǔ)足語可由“to be adj. ”結(jié)構(gòu)或動(dòng)詞不定式充當(dāng)。

thank作“責(zé)怪”解時(shí),也可接以that從句作直接賓語的雙賓語, that有時(shí)可以省略。

常用語thank you是肯定的回答,相當(dāng)于“Yes, please”; 否定的回答要用“No, thank you”。例如: Shall I do it for you?—Thank you.我來幫你好嗎?——謝謝你。Shall I do it for you?—No, thank you.我來幫你好嗎?——不,謝謝你。

Thank you后常用的答語有:Not at all.It's a pleasure.That's all right.You're welcome.Don't mention it.意思均為“不必謝”。
