overhear的基本意思是“偶然聽到”,指無(wú)意間從別人的談話中得知了某件事情或聽到了某人在談話,有時(shí)也可以指“故意偷聽”。

overhear多用于及物動(dòng)詞,后可接名詞、代詞或由疑問(wèn)詞引導(dǎo)的從句作賓語(yǔ),還可接由不帶to的動(dòng)詞不定式或現(xiàn)在分詞充當(dāng)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)的復(fù)合賓語(yǔ)。可用于被動(dòng)結(jié)構(gòu)。
