We are not entitled to affirm or negate anything. 我們沒(méi)有任何權(quán)利和資格去肯定或否定任何一件事情。

affirm的基本意思是根據(jù)事實(shí)、本人經(jīng)歷或?qū)δ呈碌拇_信而作出肯定的陳述,即“斷言”。

affirm作“斷言; 證實(shí)”解時(shí)多用作及物動(dòng)詞,不用于進(jìn)行時(shí)態(tài),可直接接賓語(yǔ),但多數(shù)情況下接that/wh-從句。affirm還可接“to be n./adj. ”充當(dāng)賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)。

affirm偶爾也可用作不及物動(dòng)詞,接介詞to引起的短語(yǔ)表示證實(shí)的內(nèi)容。
