advise后可接動名詞形式，但不可直接加不定式，如可說He advises trying once more，但不可說He advises to try once more；

意為“勸某人。。。”時，advise接指人的詞后可加不定式。表達相反意思“勸某人不。。?！睍r，advise在指人的詞后加not加不定式或against加動名詞均可。 He advised her to read carefully. He advised her not to read carelessly.He advised her against reading carelessly.

advised后接that從句時，從句中的動詞常用虛擬現(xiàn)在式。 I advised that he write the report very carefully.(不用wrote)

advise可指“通知”或“報告”，常用在公文和商業(yè)文件里。 They have advised us of the arrival of the goods.

句型“You would be well advised to ...”中，advice指“我認為你應(yīng)該。。?！?，是英國公文中的陳套語；

advise him指“勸告他”，advise with him指“跟他商量”（不普遍使用）。

advise的基本意思是“勸告,提出建議”,在舊時和現(xiàn)今的美式英語中還表示“向某人請教,與某人商量”。advise在商業(yè)用語中可作“通知,報告”解,是正式用法。

advise的搭配范圍很廣,生活中重要的和一般的事物均可使用。

advise用作及物動詞時,其賓語可以是名詞、代詞、動名詞,也可以是that從句。advise也可接雙賓語,其直接賓語可由名詞、帶疑問詞的動詞不定式和that/wh-從句充當。advise還可接由動詞不定式充當補足語的復(fù)合賓語。

advise可用以引出直接引語,可用于被動結(jié)構(gòu)。

advise間或可用作不及物動詞。

advise作“勸告”解時其后的that從句須用虛擬式。具體說來, that從句作賓語時謂語動詞可用動詞原形,也可用“should+動詞原形”; that從句用作雙賓語中的直接賓語時,謂語動詞多用“should+動詞原形”。advise作“建議”解時謂語動詞多用虛擬式,作“通知”解時一般要用陳述式。

advise的人稱賓語后可接動詞不定式,也可接that從句,例如：她勸她丈夫不要吸煙?？勺g為She advised her husband not to smoke.也可譯為She advised her husband that he shouldn't smoke.這兩種譯法中前者更合乎習(xí)慣。

“advise+ n./pron. +to- v ”結(jié)構(gòu)中的動詞不定式一般認為是賓語補足語,但近來有語法學(xué)家認為該動詞不定式在句中作雙賓語中的直接賓語,只要用提問的方式把動詞不定式變?yōu)榇鹫Z,就可以知道這種觀點的根據(jù)所在了。例如：What did he advise you?—He asked me to rest.他建議你干什么?——他叫我休息。

advise with sb on〔about〕 sth 作“與…商量…”解,在英式英語中是古舊用法,但在美式英語中卻是現(xiàn)代的正規(guī)用法。英式英語中表示“與…商量…”用consult with sb on〔about〕 sth。
